Is a very fine, white substrate for freshwater aquariums with a specially developed start-up bacterial culture; the bacteria are packed separately in a bag inside a tin.
As these start-up bacteria are dry, they are not susceptible to environmental impact, such as fluctuations in temperature or excessively long storage, as would be the case with liquid products. Start-up bacteria reduce the seeding phase and biological maturation begins at once. The bacteria break down specific organic waste in the substrate and settle around the roots of the plants, encouraging the roots to absorb nutrients. The bacterial strains are supplied on a biological, mineral carrier substrate in opaque packaging.
Jungle Sugar Sand is hardness-free, has a neutral PH, and is Co² stable with rounded grains. The sand is particularly suitable for Cichlids; these fish hunt through the sand for food and lay their spawn here. The colours of angelfish (Discus) and other freshwater fish are enhanced through the contrast with the white sand. Jungle Sugar Sand is also ideal for socialization of catfish, freshwater stingrays and prawns.
Instructions for use:
rinse Jungle Sugar Sand briefly in lukewarm water and distribute evenly in the aquarium. Then open the tin containing the bag and sprinkle over the sand, working it in gently to the substrate. Place a plate on the substrate and pour the water over it, avoiding excessive turbulence in the sand.
How much Sand do I need for my aquarium?
Example: aquarium with length 100 cm, width 40 cm, recommended depth of substrate 5 cm
Calculated volume: 100 x 40 x 5 Length x width x recommended depth
= 20 litres = number of litres
1x3kg package without start – up bacteria, is enough for 1,9 litres
1x8kg package incl. start – up bacteria, is enough for 5 litres
1x25kg package incl. start – up bacteria, is enough for 15,5 litres
The amount of bacterial substrate in the pack is the amount required for the substrate supplied.
